In the Beginning

Genesis Chapter 1

1.   God created the heaven and the earth and  
       everything in them.  

The work of the Father in creation.
 

“The Father of every good and perfect gift.”
                                                    James 1:17  

The work of the Spirit of God.  

The work of His word.
 

“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word 
was with God.  He was God in the beginning. 
Through Him all things were made.”     
                                                    John 1:1-3  

“And the Word became flesh and dwelt among 
us.”                                              John 1:14  

There is an eternal God who exists in a trinity.
 

“May they be in us.”                     John 17:21  

2.  God wanted His community to have a wonderful

place to live.

 “they exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and
worshiped and served created things rather than 
the Creator.”                                    Romans 1:25

 
Don’t worship created things rather than the Creator.  

The world does not exist on its own, "naturally".

3.  The climax of creation is the creation of human 
     beings.  

People matter to God.  

1 + 1 + 1 = 1
