Sermon Notes 5-18-08

"What is God Up To?"
1 Corinthians 12:1-11 / 1 Corinthians 14:1-5, 20-33

“I will give them an undivided heart and put a new spirit in them; I will remove from them their heart of stone and give them a heart of flesh.  Then they will follow my decrees and
be careful to keep my laws.  They will be my people, and I will
be their God.”

    Ezekiel 11:19-20

God is looking for a people.

The focus of God is not on the means He used to get our
attention, but the message He had for us.

3 Spiritual Gifts
1.  Speaking in different kinds of tongues
2.  Interpretation of tongues
3.  Prophecy

How can we be God’s people?
By having a heart for lost people and by
giving ourselves away.

Parenting Our Home Church Start

1.     Prayer/Spiritual Empowerment:  We will pray for the
House Church ” plant, as well as for God to open our
hearts to our participation.

2.     Faith/Biblical Foundation:  Understanding the Biblical
roots for multiplication and our need to trust the Holy
Spirit to walk us through every step of the process.

3.     Resources:  In addition to financial support, we will
make office availability and finances for conferences.

4.     Communication:  We will keep the vision of the church
plant alive at ALC through updates on its progress.

5.      Relationship:  Bryan and Pastor Tom will meet on a
regular basis for accountability, friendship and assess
the new ministry as well as its effect on the parent
church.  Perhaps some joint service projects where the
parent and plant work side-by-side would be helpful in
keeping the relationship alive and vibrant would be
helpful.
