A Portrait of a True Father
1 Thessalonians 2:7-12

4 Traits of a Good Father:

1.  Able to express genuine love.

“Your love, O LORD, reaches to the heavens, your
faithfulness to the skies.”

Psalm 36:5

“Don’t just pretend that you love others.  Really love them.”
 Romans 12:9

2.  Lives a transparent life.

We modeled it for you by how we lived.

“As you have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord,
so walk in Him.”

Colossians 2:6

3.  Models genuine spirituality

You will either lead your family closer to God or you will
lead your family further away from God.

“I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live,
but Christ lives in me.  The life I live in the body, I live
by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave
himself for me.”
Galatians 2:20

4.  Is a  positive influence

“You are the light of the world.  A city on a hill cannot be
hidden.  Neither do men light a lamp and put it under a
bowl.  Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to
everyone in the house.  In the same way, let your light
shine before me, that they may see your good deeds and
praise your father in heaven.”

Matthew 5:14-16
