Faith Lessons:  What I Learned from
Bible Stories

“The Jordan River:  Taking a Step of Faith”
Joshua 3:1-6, 13-14

The Israelites saw the Jordan River as a barrier to overcome.

“Now the Jordan is at flood stage all during harvest.”
                                                                             Joshua 3:15

God’s showing them that His power is sufficient.

Faith Lesson #1

We have to take the 1st step.

“Come close to God, and God will come close to you.”
                                                                            James 4:8

-        Head – what I think

-        Heart – what I believe

-        Hands – what I do

-        Feet – where I go

Faith Lesson #2

Jesus is the Mikveh of God.

“O LORD, the hope of Israel, all who turn away from you
will be disgraced.  They will be buried in the dust of the
earth, for they have abandoned the LORD, the fountain of
living water.”
                                                Jeremiah 17:13

“For we died and were buried with Christ by baptism.  And
just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glorious
power of the Father, now we also may live new lives.”

                                Romans 6:4

Faith Lesson #3

    We are ambassadors of Christ.

“We are therefore Christ’s ambassadors, as though God
were making his appeal through us.  We implore you on
Christ’s behalf:  Be reconciled to God.”
  2 Corinthians 5:20
